Visual Hierarchy of a Showroom - Part 2

There is a natural order to how the human eye perceives the things it sees. When design elements are arranged in a certain order it can influence the importance of what is seen first. These principles of the visual hierarchy can be very helpful in having the most impact on customers perusing your showroom.

 

 

In Part 2, we will cover the 4 elements of visual hierarchy in your showrooms.

 

THE 4 ELEMENTS:

 

IN-STORE Focus. Choose a key area in the store as a focal point for when customers enter the store and create a captivating display.

 

Movement. Position furniture pieces facing aisles and alternate the angles of nearby displays in order to create a natural flow. This also peaks interest, drawing customers through a showroom. If everything is boxed in and the same there will be nothing to attract attention further through the space.

 

Balance. When arranging a vignette, don’t place all tall items next to each other. That will create an imbalance to the eye which can cause a customer to glance over other items. Create visual balance by equally distributing the heavier/taller objects across the display area.

 

Repetition. Repetition can be done in a showroom without having to repeat the same product. Use the same placements for items throughout the showroom, such as chairs to on the left of sofas, or even price tags to the right of an item. This provides consistency and helps the customer know where to find things.
